A Pole Parent Reminices

My Daughter the Pole Dancer!

Is this a statement that I was intending to make when my beautiful bride and I became parents? Certainly that was not in my thinking back in the day.

Perhaps I need to go back to the beginning. Fortunate to start our family in Prince Albert a city of roughly 35,000. This let us get home for lunch with the kids. Socialize easily with so many great friends. Some as close as out the back door. We were blessed.

A move to Saskatoon occurred. Galen was 6 and Sarah 5. It was obvious that Sarah had a knack and rhythm for dance. She had my genes!

One dance class led to two then three. In no time at all she was dancing and at classes five days a week. From a parenting perspective we were thrilled and I had the joy of driving her to the classes. And I mean that sincerely. Her fellow dancers and instructors were a wonderful positive influence.

Time does fly by. She was in competitions, teacher's aid. Then teaching classes herself. Her mother and I were well versed in recitals and competitions.

After high school she had her training in hair styling. But always there was dance.

For some reason I was not surprised when informed that she was pole dancing and then working at a studio. I guess nothing really surprises me anymore!

So here we are now nearly 2 years into Sarah owning her own studio. We are so thrilled for many reasons. Her instructors are an amazing group. Knowledgeable, caring, supportive. What a pleasure to know them.

I have the enjoyment of attending barre classes at the studio. Great workout and I wish a few more men would attend. Just to realize how tough it is. Thank you to the ladies who all make me feel so welcome.

My wife and I usually attend the door at the studio showcases. What a great time we have getting to meet the students, friends and family. Some say we tease a bit? But if we do it's meant with love. These nights are amazing. Athletics, rhythm, dance, music, outstanding. The support given to all participants. The love given overflows the studio. What a positive vibe.

Sincerely,

Richard Longpre

Proud to be a Pole Father.
