6 Week Zoom Session!

Over the last 10 weeks, we have enjoyed dancing, stretching and working out in your home (and you in ours!) over Zoom during our studio closure. With restrictions being lifted and new regulations coming out, we are very excited to reopen soon. With that said, your health and safety is our #1 priority. As we always say, Safety First! This means that we will continue to offer dance and fitness classes over Zoom for the foreseeable future. While our equipment is adequately spaced out, we cannot guarantee the 6 feet recommended social distancing with our dance/fitness classes, so we will continue to dance and train with you at home until more restrictions are lifted.

While of course things are not the same over Zoom as they are in the studio, here are a few reasons why you may want to consider joining us for a 6 week registration over Zoom:

- Strength Training - I rarely work out as hard alone as I do when I’m teaching or taking classes. There is something about doing something together, seeing everyone else working hard, that makes me want to bring my best. Another great reason for signing up for a 6 week session is that it’s in your calendar. How many times have you said, ‘I’ll work out today', only to have Netflix or Animal Crossing call your name instead? Scheduling something into your calendar keeps your priority a priority. And who doesn’t love suffering together in a Bootcamp or Barre? It’s the best!

- Flexibility Training - We offer excellent flexibility training over Zoom whether it’s Active Flexibility, Roll and Release, Stretch and Mobility, or Gentle Stretch. Not only are these classes great for your body, they are excellent for your mind too. Sometimes these classes give you a bang for your buck both in terms of strength and flexibility. If you are new to Active Flexibility, for example, these classes can be just as intense as conditioning classes working on strengthening at the same time as stretching. If becoming more flexible is important to you, these are great options at home!

- Dance Training - Have you ever thought “I’d love to take a sensual movement or exotic class but don’t know what it’s about or don’t know if I’d feel comfortable stepping into a class?’ Our dance classes over Zoom are an excellent way to try out different styles of dance if you’ve always said, “I really want to try that!’. While we miss dancing in our beautiful studio, dancing at home can be just as therapeutic. It’s a wonderful way to feel grounded in your body, express yourself through movement, or just have fun learning something new.

Regardless of what classes you take, it’s a wonderful way to stay connected to our SPDS community.

Our 6 week Zoom classes start Monday, June 1. Our instructors are back on contract, so our classes need to meet minimum numbers in order to run. If there are classes you want to register for, we encourage you to do so as soon as possible. Sarah will decide on Sunday which classes will run and which will not, so if there’s something you hope to attend, we encourage you to register!

Here are a few common questions about Zoom:

What if there is a session I want to attend but I cannot attend the full 6 weeks? That’s ok too! Simply register for the classes you are able to attend and remaining credits will be on your account for future classes.

Will drop in options still be available for these 6 week sessions? Yes. Whatever classes run the full six weeks, you will still have the option to drop in each week as well. For example, if you purchased a six week session of Barre, but in week three want to pay for a drop in for Sultry Jazz, we’d be more than happy to have you!

What if I don’t know what classes are best for me? Send us a message over Instagram, Facebook or email, and we would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.

I’ve never used Zoom before. How do I do it? If you register for a 6 week class and are unsure how to use Zoom, we are more than happy to walk you through the steps. We also have instructions on Instagram and here on our blog.

How do I register for classes? All our class registration is through MindBody. We have instructions on our Instagram page or you can click here. Remember that this is an old post. All classes now require registration.

Do I have to have my camera on? No! We just need you to say hello at the start of class so we know who is in the room as we will now be taking attendance. Then, you can keep your camera off if you’re not comfortable; however, we’re always happy to see friendly faces too.

When will these classes go back to the studio? We are unsure when we will be able to offer dance and fitness classes again in our studio with COVID restrictions. If you are waiting for that option, it may be a while even months yet, so we do recommend checking out these classes in the meantime.

I prefer Zoom classes based on my schedule, location, etc. Will these end at some point? We have seen a lot of positive benefits to Zoom, and will likely continue to offer these as long as there is interest from you!

We can’t wait for our first official session back, and can’t wait for you to join us!
